History . . .

32 years of excellence in dance training. For three decades The Dothan School of Dance, under the direction of Tracy Solomon, has given Dothan and the surrounding communities the highest quality of dance training available. Through our progressive level training program, students of all ages have the opportunity to strengthen their bodies and minds as they grow to love the art of dance. From the very beginning Creative Movement class to the most advanced level dance classes, our students gain a solid understanding of proper technique and dance terminology.

Studies have found that dance training helps the student prepare to meet the challenges of their everyday lives such as: creative problem solving, discipline, concentration, respect, and relationship with peers and classmates. Our curriculum fosters physical awareness and improves the students body carriage, poise, co-ordination, and appreciation for the art while experiencing the sheer joy of movement. For the serious dancer or the student who dances for recreation, dance helps promote self-esteem and provides an excellent outlet for creativity.

Faculty . . .

Our professionally trained and caring instructors provide a very rewarding and positive experience for all students. All of our instructors are skilled dancers, which is important in being able to demonstrate correct dance technique. In addition, we also have assistant teachers helping in many classes. All students are placed into their respective levels by the decision of our faculty and are evaluated periodically to make sure that each student is training in the appropriate level.

Facility  . . .

Our modern facility, conveniently located at 2867 Fortner Street, (Map),was built in 1980 and was specifically designed for dance.  Our floors are built on a wooden platform to reduce stress on our dancers’ bodies. The facility consists of three air-conditioned studios with viewing windows, a comfortable lobby and a convenient drive-thru for drop-off and pick-up.
